Media and Tourism
In modern times, no one can escape the reach of advertising, and countless people are heavily influenced by social media when choosing travel destinations. Travel and media have been intertwined in development for over a century, from the Cook era to the digital age, with media playing a crucial role in shaping the modern travel industry. In this course, Professor Dinu Luca will analyze how, through the decades, people have utilized media to support the travel industry as technology evolves.
European Gastronomy
European Gastronomy takes you on a deep dive into the unique culinary cultures and cooking techniques of various European countries. The course covers classic dishes from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and more with learning about their historical and cultural backgrounds. Whether students are food enthusiasts or seeking a deeper understanding of different cultures, Professor Tsai will open the doors to the world of cuisine, providing insights into history, tradition, and appreciation of culinary culture.
The History of European Cinema (Program)
This course will lead students to understand how film evolves from experimentation to become the eighth art form. It will introduce various distinctive film styles and pioneers of European cinema from different eras. From German Expressionism to Neorealism; from the Soviet regime to fascist rule, films incorporate cultural, political, and artistic issues from various countries. Students interested in joining Professor Liang on this journey of in-depth learning and enriching the mind and soul are welcome!
Spanish I / Spanish III (Program)
This semester’s Spanish courses are also offered by our experienced Spanish teacher, Ms. Xu Yuyan. Spanish I welcomes students with no prior knowledge, while Spanish III is open to those who wish to continue their studies. Priority is given to Spanish I students, while there are no qualifications required for Spanish III.
French III (Program)
Professor Tsai graduated from the doctoral program in Language and Culture Teaching at Université Paris III in France, with expertise in French language teaching and linguistics. This semester’s French III course will be taught by Professor Tsai. Students who have previously taken French courses are welcome to continue their studies, and it is recommended that students have at least an A1 level of proficiency before enrolling in French III. However, there are no restrictions on enrollment qualifications for this course.
French I (Program)
Teacher Huang’s French class is rich, consistently being a popular choice among students! This semester, French I will be taught by teacher Huang, welcoming students with no prior knowledge to enroll. Priority for enrollment in French I is given to program students!
German III (Program)
In the upcoming semester, Professor Chen will be teaching the German III course. Students who are interested in learning German are welcome to enroll!
